Welcome to EYFS at Forest View! 

We are all looking forward to getting to know you and your child over the coming months. We have a very exciting Autumn Term ahead! 

During the first half term, our topic will be "All About Me". This will support the children as they settle into school life, make new friends and become familiar with new routines and expectations. Through play-based learning, we will get to know each child while developing key skills in phonics, mathematics, communication and language. 

The children will take part in storytelling activities, share their likes and dislikes, talk about their families, learn about similarities and differences, and explore activities that promote friendship, turn-taking, sharing and independence. We will also begin building early reading, writing and mathematical skills through engaging, practical experiences. 

In the second half of the term, our learning will move on to "People Who Help Us". Children will learn about the important roles people play in our community, including healthcare workers, firefighters, police officers, teachers and many others. Through stories, role play and practical activities, we will explore how these people help us every day. 

Forest View uses the digital platform Seesaw to share observations, learning updates and important communications. Details of how to set up your child's account will be sent to you soon.  

During the Autumn Term, we will be holding a Reading Information Session for parents and carers. This will provide useful information about how we teach reading in school and ways you can support your child's reading journey at home. Please keep an eye on Seesaw for further details and dates. Reading packs will be sent home once the children are attending school full time. Information about PE days and Forest School sessions and our Macmillan coffee afternoon will also be shared via Seesaw.  

All of the EYFS team are looking forward to a fantastic term of learning, discovery and fun. We cannot wait to begin this exciting journey with you and your child!
