Harriers

Year 5/6 - Mrs S. Smith and Mr R. Gallop

Our names are Mrs Smith and Mr Gallop and we are the class teachers of Harriers class.  Mrs Smith teaches the class at the start of the week and Mr Gallop teaches Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Working alongside us throughout the week in class is Mrs Younger and Mrs Eagles.

The summer terms topic is 'Reach for the Stars’. We will be focussing upon health fitness and wellbeing during this topic. We will have a dressing up day 18th April to be someone who has inspired us. This term we shall be visited by English women's rugby player Ceri Large and have the opportunity to have a rugby taster session with her and Cinderford Rugby Club.  On Wednesdays we have swimming sessions and on Fridays have PE so please ensure your child has kit in school each week including shorts, t-shirt and daps, as well as bringing their swimming bag every Wednesday.  On Thursdays our Year 5 children will be involved in the mini marines programme which will promote team work, confidence as well as good physical and mental health.

We will set a homework pack with activities to complete all of which link to the work we have been covering in class and the topic. However it is also essential that you hear your child read as much as possible as well as practising their times tables. It is essential that children know all of their times tables in Year 5 and 6 so please help them to practise at home. Children receive rewards for completed homework, for reading at home (if an adult has signed their link book) and also for mastering their times tables.

We have many exciting activities planned for the children throughout the term so please remember to join us at the end of the topic for Summer Showcase where we will be celebrating all our hard work.

We look forward to another exciting and fun filled term.
