Forrest View

Welcome back! We hope you had a restful and healthy Easter break. This terms topic is ‘Road To Tokyo’

The Olympics are finally on the horizon. For the first half of the Summer term our learning will revolve around healthy lifestyles and growing. It will begin with the traditional story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk.’ The children will be using all the Talk for Writing actions, language and story maps they have learned during the Spring term. They will begin to write sentences and different parts of the story. This will help to continue developing their language and writing skills.  Phonics will also continue daily. This will include new Set 3 phonemes for some children and opportunities to write.

As part of the topic the children will explore how to stay healthy. This will include exercise, eating and taking care of their bodies. The children will explore how plants grow, trying new foods and they will even be doing some cooking!  The Literacy will revolve around ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’ and ‘The Enoromous Potato.’

The children will then begin to learn about what it takes to become an Olympic athelete. During the second half of the summer term the focus will move to Japan. The children will compare the lifestyles of children living in Japan with their own lifetstyle here in the UK. There will be a more international flavour to the final part of the school year.

PE will continue to be on Wednesdays and Forest School sessions will continue on Thursday afternoons. The staff will continue to communicate with you through Tapestry so please check your child’s account reguarly. Please upload homework onto Tapestry this term. Just take a photo and pop it onto your childs account. The creative task CAN be bought into school to share with the rest of the class.

Finally, feel free to email  or  or phone if you have any questions or concerns.
